The Distinguished Young Woman of Cullman County for 2019 is Abigail Long, from Hanceville.
Abigail’s achievements include: Placed on Wallace State's academic President's List for 4.0 GPA. • Inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa & Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies. • Selected as first and only high school SGA Senator at Wallace State. • Awarded with highest overall GPA for Hanceville High School '19 class. • Selected as 2018 Cullman County Fair Queen Representative. • Multiple state and regional baton champion in all areas of competition • 9-time Miss Majorette of Alabama. • 2-time Miss Majorette of the South. • 5-time National Baton Champion. • Top 5 in Miss Majorette of America strut.
In addition, Abigail’s activities include: At Wallace State Community College, I was selected as an SGA Senator. • I am an active member in the Rotaract Club at Wallace State. • I serve as the Vice President of WSCC FastTrack program. • I particpate in the Paralegal Club at Wallace State Community College. • I am involved in Wallace's Baptist Campus Ministries organization. • At HHS, I represented my school through SGA and Student Advisory. • In HHS's LEO Club, I obtained 80 hours of community service. • Head Majorette and Feature Twirler for Hanceville's Marching Band. • I am actively involved in my youth group at Mtn Grove Baptist Church. • Danced as a member of the Cullman Ballet Company.
I dedicate time to volunteer with the non-profit organization Sight Savers. • I mentor young children in my community who struggle with vision impairments. • I am a member of WSCC SGA and Rotaract Club, both focus on community service. • I accumulated over 80 hours of community service through HHS SGA and Leo Club. • I work with my church to feed the elderly shut-ins in the community.
